Claude AI Video Generator
Claude can write the shot list, but it can't render a frame. Connect Mage and the same chat makes the clip: from a prompt, from your images, or as an edit of footage you already have, each one priced in Gems before it starts.

The basics
Can Claude make videos?
Not by itself. Claude reads images and writes scripts, prompts and shot lists, but it has no video model. The Mage connector adds one. It is a remote MCP server that gives Claude tools to choose a Mage model, price a clip, start it on your Mage account, wait for it to render and hand back the finished MP4.
Unless you name another model, Claude makes video with Cherry 2 Pro, Mage's flagship: 4 to 30 seconds per clip at 480p, 720p or 1080p, in 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1, with sound. It takes your images as references, casts a saved character by @handle with that character's voice, and edits a source clip of 4 to 30 seconds. Ask for Lemon when you need an exact first and last frame, or Cherry Mini for cheap drafts.
Claude makes video wherever it can use connectors: on the web, in the desktop and mobile apps, in Cowork, and in Claude Code in your terminal. Connecting is free, and each clip is paid in Gems from your Mage account.
A little more possibility
Why make video in Claude with Mage
Cherry 2 Pro by default
Clips from 4 to 30 seconds at up to 1080p, with audio, unless you ask Claude for another model.
A price before every clip
Mage's server tells Claude to price each clip with estimate_cost and tell you before it starts. Asking for a price costs nothing.
Your cast, with their voices
Mention a saved character by @handle and Cherry 2 Pro keeps the face and speaks in the voice you saved.
Edit footage you have
Send a 4 to 30 second clip and describe the change. The edit keeps the length and framing of the source.
Sound from the same chat
Seed Audio makes narration, music and sound effects for clips from silent models or a separate soundtrack.
Skills for whole videos
UGC Video, Faceless Video and Short Drama take Claude from a script to a finished vertical clip.
From idea to creation
How do you make a video in Claude?
It takes three steps, and it is free to start.
Add Mage as a connector
Open the Claude link on Mage's MCP page. Claude's Connectors page opens with Mage's server filled in; add it, sign in to Mage and approve.
Fund the account once
The MCP server works after one successful payment on your Mage account, any Gem pack or plan. Sign-up bonus Gems work in the Mage app only.
Describe the clip
Turn Mage on in the chat and say what happens, for how long, in which shape, and who is in it by @handle.
Approve the quote
Claude names the model and the Gems, starts the clip and checks on it until the MP4 is ready. Download it within 30 days.
Tips and techniques
What Claude can do with video through Mage
The connector gives Claude 16 tools, and five of them do most of the video work. list_models and get_model let Claude choose a model and read its lengths, resolutions and rules. estimate_cost prices the exact clip, and catches a setting the model would refuse before anything is charged. generate starts the clip, and get_request waits for it and returns the file. cancel_request stops a clip you no longer want, but its Gems are not refunded, so read the quote first.
The other tools connect Claude to what you already have on Mage. list_characters and list_references show your saved characters, outfits, poses, locations, objects and voice clips by @handle. create_character saves a new character from a photo link, with an optional voice clip trimmed to 10 seconds. list_history shows your last 30 days of generations, including ones you made in the Mage app, so a request such as "animate the portrait I made this morning" works. search_creations finds what you saved, and get_account shows your balance and how many generations are running.
A few jobs have ready-made Mage skills that Claude follows step by step: UGC Video for creator-style product clips, Faceless Video for narrated explainers, and Short Drama for scripted scenes with a saved cast. Browse them on the skills page. For still images in the same chat, see the Claude AI image generator.
Tips and techniques
Getting your images and clips to Claude
Mage reads media from links, not from chat attachments. Give Claude a direct https link to the image or video file itself, or point it at a result from earlier in the chat. A YouTube or TikTok page is not a file, so ask the person who shared it for a direct link. Small images can also travel inside the request as data of up to about 3 MB.
Claude Code removes that limit. It can upload a local file of up to 100 MB with create_upload, such as a clip to edit or a set of product photos, and download the finished video into your project.
Edits are the job most often held up by this. Cherry 2 Pro edits a source clip of 4 to 30 seconds, and the result keeps its length and framing. To change a clip in the browser instead, with nothing to link, use the AI video editor on Mage.
- Share direct file links, not page links.
- Use Claude Code for large local files.
- Trim a source clip to 4 to 30 seconds before an edit.
- Download each result: links last 30 days.
Tips and techniques
Pricing a clip before Claude runs it
Video prices climb steeply with resolution and length, so the quote is the step to read. Ask Claude to price two or three versions before you commit, for example a 4-second draft at 480p and the 15-second final at 1080p. Cherry Mini is the cheapest Cherry for drafts, and Lemon balances price and quality.
If your balance is too low, Claude tells you instead of starting. Your plan's monthly Gems count toward clips made in Claude, but unlimited generation covers the Mage app, not clips started from an assistant. When a model's provider refuses a request, for example because it shows a real person or a copyrighted character, the clip fails and its Gems are refunded; change that part of the request rather than retrying it as is.
Batches need a little planning. Your account runs a limited number of generations at once, counting ones started in the Mage app, so ask Claude to start a long list in waves.
Tips and techniques
How to brief Claude for a video
Brief it the way you would brief a director. Lead with the action, then the camera, then the light and the sound, and give the length and the shape: "10 seconds, 9:16, a slow push-in as she turns toward the window, rain on the glass, a distant train." Claude turns that into the model's prompt, but the details you give are the ones that survive.
Then iterate in the same conversation. "Same clip at dusk", "keep everything but make it 16:9", or "now a 4-second version for the intro" all work, because Claude keeps the prompt and the settings from the turn before. When a scene needs several shots, ask for them as separate clips with the same @character, then join them in Storyboard on Mage.
- Give the length, the aspect ratio and the resolution up front.
- Name the camera move: push-in, tracking, aerial, handheld.
- Use @handles for people so the face and voice stay the same.
- Ask for a price on the draft and the final before either runs.
The right model for the job
Video models to name in Claude
Claude uses Cherry 2 Pro unless you ask for another. Name one of these when the job calls for it.
Cherry 2 Pro
The default: 4 to 30 seconds at up to 1080p, with sound, references, characters with their voices, and edits of a source clip. The most expensive video model, so check the quote.
Cherry Mini
The cheapest Cherry, for drafts and for testing a prompt before the final render.
Lemon
A first and a last frame, reference images and reference videos, and clips from short to long, with audio unless you turn it off.
Seed Audio
Voices, music and sound effects at the exact length you ask for, for a soundtrack or a clip from a silent model.

Requests to paste into Claude
Each one gives Claude the length, the shape and the model, and asks for a price first. Swap in your own links and @handles.
A product clip from a photo
Use Mage to turn this product photo into an 8-second 9:16 video: the bottle turns slowly on wet black stone, rain falling behind it, soft rim light. Quote 480p and 1080p first. Photo: [direct link to the image file]
A character who speaks
Make a 10-second 16:9 clip of @yourcharacter on a train platform at night, looking up from a book and saying "You're late again." Cherry 2 Pro at 720p.
An edit of your footage
Edit this 12-second clip so it looks filmed at dusk in falling snow, and keep everything else as it is. Clip: [direct link to the MP4]
Draft, then final
Draft three 4-second 480p versions of a fox running through a birch forest at dawn on Cherry Mini, then render the one I pick on Cherry 2 Pro at 1080p for 10 seconds.
Room to experiment
A separate video app vs video inside Claude
A video app in another tab means copying the script over, uploading the references again and pasting the result back. With Mage in Claude, the conversation that wrote the scene also renders it and remembers what you changed.
A separate video app
- Script in one tab, renders in another
- References uploaded again for every tool
- The price shows at the end of a form
- No memory of the last version you asked for
Mage inside Claude
- One chat plans, prices and renders the clip
- Saved characters and references by @handle
- A Gem quote before every clip
- Iterate with "same clip, but..."
Follow your imagination
