Overview

What is MOSS-Image?

MOSS-Image is an open-source text-to-image model from the OpenMOSS team, released under the Apache 2.0 license. It follows long, detailed prompts closely and renders legible English and Chinese text.

Mage runs the full 50-step model on its own GPUs, so there is nothing to download and no GPU to rent, and community MOSS-Image LoRAs work on top of it.

Tips

  • Describe everything: subject, setting, light, camera, and style. MOSS-Image rewards detail.
  • Put the exact words in quotes: a sign reading "FRESH COFFEE". Chinese text works the same way.
  • Add a LoRA under Model for a consistent style. It starts at 0.5; raise it toward 1 if the style barely shows.
  • Use the negative prompt for what keeps appearing that you do not want.

How much does MOSS-Image cost?
MOSS-Image costs from 25 Gems (about $0.025) per image at 1K. Gems come with every paid plan and in Gem packs, you pay only for what you generate, and a generation that fails is refunded.
Can I use MOSS-Image unlimited?
Yes. MOSS-Image runs unlimited from the Basic plan ($10 a month) at 1K. Higher resolutions can need a higher plan or Gems; the pricing table shows every setting.
Can I try MOSS-Image for free?
Yes. New Mage accounts get 300 free Gems, enough for 12 images with MOSS-Image at 1K. No credit card is needed to start.
What can I give MOSS-Image as input?
A text prompt, plus image inputs: none: it generates from the prompt alone. It takes no saved Characters or references by @handle.
What resolutions does MOSS-Image support?
Resolutions: 1K, 2K. Aspect ratios: 21:9, 16:9, 3:2, 5:4, 1:1, 4:5, 2:3, 9:16, 9:21.
Can I use MOSS-Image through an API, or in Claude and ChatGPT?
Yes. The Mage API runs it as the moss_image model, and the Mage MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT, and other assistants generate with it after quoting the price.
Is what I make with MOSS-Image private?
Yes. Everything you generate on Mage is private by default: it appears in Explore or on your profile only if you post it.
Is MOSS-Image open source?
Yes. The OpenMOSS team released MOSS-Image with open weights under the Apache 2.0 license. On Mage you run it in the browser on Mage's GPUs, with nothing to install.
Can I use MOSS-Image LoRAs on Mage?
Yes. Pick a community MOSS-Image LoRA under Model, or import one from CivitAI on the Import page. Standard LoRA and LoCon files work; LoKr, LoHa, and DoRA files are not supported yet.
Can MOSS-Image write Chinese text?
Yes. It renders English and Chinese text. Put the exact words in quotes in your prompt, for example a sign reading "老街茶馆".
