Privacy in AI video comes down to three questions. Who can see what you make? What happens to the footage, photos and voice recordings you upload? And what does the company's licence let it do with all of it, including training its own models? A tool can be private on the first question and still keep wide rights on the third, so check each one on its own.

Mage answers the first two in the product. Every clip is private by default: it goes to your own history, not to Explore, your profile or the leaderboard, and it becomes public only if you post that one creation. The photos, clips and voice recordings you upload, the characters you save and the voices you give them, and your outfit, location and object references are private too. History clears itself after 30 days, and anything you save stays in Saved creations until you delete it.

The third question lives in each company's terms, not in its app.

Inside Mage, private means private to your account. Your generations, the source clips you upload for a swap or an edit, the photos and recordings you use for a lipsync, your saved characters and their voices, and your references are visible to you alone. Your history keeps each generation for 30 days, then deletes it; saving a clip moves it to Saved creations, which you can sort into collections and delete whenever you like.

Private by default describes who can see your work, not where it is processed. To render a clip, your prompt and inputs go to the model that makes it, and some models are run by outside providers that screen requests with their own filters. That is true of every hosted generator. The only way to keep footage on your own machine is a model you run locally, with the setup and hardware that takes.

If you generate from an AI assistant through Mage's MCP server, the request and the result also pass through that assistant, under its terms, and the result link lasts 30 days. Everything that starts with your own face or voice deserves the same care on any tool: the Video Face Swap, Video Character Swap and Lipsync apps all keep uploads private, and the swap apps ask you to confirm you have permission before they run.

• Post deliberately, one clip at a time.
• Use footage and voices of real people only with their permission.
• Delete source clips from history when a client job ends.

Check the default first. Some tools publish free-plan generations to a public gallery and sell privacy as an upgrade, so the plan you are on decides who sees your drafts. On Mage the default is private on every plan, but the habit is worth keeping wherever you work: make a test clip and look for it in the public feed before you upload anything personal.

Then decide what really needs to go in. A product launch can be drafted with a stand-in object until the final render. A client face can wait until the client has approved the concept. A voice clip can be a short line rather than a whole recording. The less personal material you upload, the less any licence covers.
