Moving from Higgsfield to Mage

Switching tools mid-project is mostly about what you built up: characters, references, prompts and the assistant connection. This guide covers what carries over to Mage, how to move each part in an afternoon, and what Mage does not have.

No installation. No credit card. Private by default.

  • 1Photo to save a Mage character

The basics

What carries over when you switch from Higgsfield?

Your finished files carry over as files. Everything else you built on Higgsfield, such as Soul ID characters, Moodboards and app setups, lives on its platform and does not import into another tool, so the move is a rebuild. On Mage most of that rebuild takes minutes, because nothing has to be trained.

Characters are the biggest change. Higgsfield's Soul ID trains on 20 or more photos of one person before the face can be reused. A Mage Character starts from one photo, or from a portrait you generate, and works as soon as it is saved: you call it by @handle in image and video prompts, on Mage and in AI assistants connected to Mage. References work the same way for outfits, poses, locations and objects, and a character can carry its own voice into video.

The everyday jobs map closely to Mage apps: recasting the person in a video, swapping a face, making a photo speak, changing an outfit, seeing a shot from a new angle, relighting it. Some Higgsfield tools have no Mage equivalent, and this guide names them, so you can decide whether to move everything at once or keep both for a while.

A little more possibility

What you gain by moving to Mage

  • Characters without training

Save a character from one photo and use it right away by @handle in images and video.

  • Unlimited video, no countdown

Unlimited video starts on Pro at $30 a month, on a published list of models and settings with no per-model window.

  • Voices on characters

Give a character a voice once, and video on models such as Cherry, Lemon and Plum uses it automatically.

  • No watermark on Free

Sign-up Gems run any model, and nothing you make carries a watermark, on any plan.

  • Your @handles in your assistant

Mage's MCP server brings your characters and references into Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Grok.

  • Private by default

Characters, references and generations stay private until you publish them.

From idea to creation

How do you move from Higgsfield to Mage?

It takes three steps, and it is free to start.

  1. Download what you want to keep

Save the Higgsfield images and videos you need, keep your Soul ID source photos, and spend any Credit Pack credits first.

  2. Save each character once

On the Characters page, upload one clear photo per character, name it, and add a voice if it speaks.

  3. Save your references

Upload the outfits, locations, objects and poses you reuse, so any prompt can call them by @handle.

  4. Reconnect your assistant

Add Mage's MCP server to Claude or ChatGPT, sign in, and ask for the same jobs by name.

Tips and techniques

Before you cancel Higgsfield

Higgsfield says cancelling turns off auto-renewal and does not delete your account or your generations, and its help center describes your assets as accessible while your subscription is active. Subscription credits expire at the end of the paid period. Credit Pack credits survive cancellation but expire 90 days after purchase, so spend them first. After the paid period ends, new Higgsfield generations follow its free-account rules, which add a visible watermark.

Deleting the account is a different step. Higgsfield gives 30 days to restore a deleted account and then removes everything permanently, trained Soul characters included, so download first. Keep the photos you trained each Soul ID on, too: the best one becomes your Mage character.

  • Download finals and the clips you may want to recast later.
  • Spend Credit Pack credits before they expire.
  • Keep one clear source photo for each Soul ID character.
  • Note the prompts and settings that worked best for you.

Tips and techniques

Rebuilding Soul ID characters on Mage

Pick the one photo that shows the person best: the face clearly visible, even light, a plain background, no sunglasses and no heavy shadow across the eyes. That photo sets the identity everywhere the character appears. If the character will be swapped into video full-body, use a full-body image instead, so the outfit and build carry over as well as the face.

If your best material is a single portrait, the Character Sheet app turns one image into a sheet with a face close-up, front, side and back views and the outfit details, and you can save the sheet as the character. To design a new face rather than rebuild an old one, start from the AI character generator.

Test before you move a whole series. Generate the character in three different settings and one short clip, compare them with your Soul ID results, and swap the source photo if something drifts. Then add the voice: upload a short clip or generate one, and the video models that support character voices use it whenever the character is in the prompt.

  • One clear, front-facing photo per character.
  • Full-body images for characters that will be swapped into video.
  • Test in three scenes and one clip before migrating a series.
  • Save outfits and locations as references to pair with the character.

Tips and techniques

Which Mage app replaces which Higgsfield tool

Recast, Higgsfield's app for swapping characters in a video, maps to Video Character Swap. It replaces the whole person in a clip, face, hair, body and outfit, with a character from one image, while the motion, camera and background stay as filmed. To change only the face, use Video Face Swap for clips and Face Swap for photos.

Lipsync Studio maps to Lipsync, which makes the subject of one image speak an audio clip of up to 15 seconds; a saved character keeps its identity on Plum, Lemon and Cherry. Higgsfield’s AI Clothes Changer and AI Stylist map to Outfit Swap, which puts the outfit from a reference photo onto a person and keeps the face and the scene.

For stills, Higgsfield's Angles 2.0 and Relight apps have Mage counterparts: Angles shows an image from a new camera angle, and Relight changes the direction and mood of the light. If you leaned on Moodboards for a repeatable look, Mage has Moodboards too: 20 or more images in one style that steer the image models that support them.

Tips and techniques

Moving your assistant connection

Higgsfield's MCP connector signs you in with OAuth and deducts credits for every generation, whatever your plan. Mage's server works the same way: add it from the MCP page, sign in with your Mage account, and your assistant gets 16 tools to choose a model, quote each generation with estimate_cost, and generate on Gems with your characters and references by @handle. The server needs one successful payment on the account first, any Gem pack or plan.

You can keep both connected in Claude while you compare. Turn on one connector per chat so Claude uses the one you mean, and ask for models by name; unless you name one, Mage uses Mango 3 for images, Cherry 2 Pro for video and Seed Audio for sound. The Claude AI video generator guide covers video in Claude step by step.

Tips and techniques

Translating Higgsfield habits into Mage prompts

Cinema Studio picks a camera body, a lens and a motion preset from menus. On Mage you write them. Name the move (slow push-in, tracking shot, crane up, handheld, whip pan, crash zoom), the look (35mm film, anamorphic, macro) and the light. For several shots in one Cherry 2 Pro clip, list them in order with rough timings, as the examples below do.

One-click templates become one of two things on Mage: a prompt that describes the effect, or a clip you have the rights to, recast with Video Character Swap. For a transition between two exact images, use Lemon with a first and a last frame, and describe only what happens between them.

Tips and techniques

What Mage does not have

Some Higgsfield tools have no Mage counterpart, and it is better to know before you cancel. Cinema Studio's menus of camera bodies, lenses and motion presets have none: you direct the camera in words. Marketing Studio turns a product URL or image into a finished video ad on the website; on Mage the closest is the UGC Video skill, which runs inside an AI assistant rather than as an app on the site. Higgsfield's own Soul image models and Soul HEX palettes are not on Mage, and its directory of about 94 one-click apps is larger than Mage's set of apps.

Model catalogs differ too. If a particular third-party model is the reason you use Higgsfield, look for it on Mage’s models page before you cancel. And on both platforms, generations started through an AI assistant are metered: unlimited covers the website or app only.

Tips and techniques

Choosing a Mage plan after Higgsfield

If video is most of your work, start with Pro at $30 a month: Melon, short Lemon clips, Wan, LTX and MiniMax-H3 Turbo are unlimited, and so is character creation. Pro Plus at $60 adds Mage's premium video models, such as Cherry, Kiwi and Plum Max, within set lengths, and Max at $200 adds Cherry 2 Pro at 4 seconds and 480p and 1080p on several models. If you mostly generate from an assistant, Gems are what you spend, and a Gem pack may be all you need. Compare the lists on the membership page, and read the unlimited AI video generator guide for how the lists work.

The right model for the job

Mage models to start with after Higgsfield

Each one takes saved characters by @handle, so a rebuilt Soul ID works on all of them.

  • Mango 3

Mage's flagship image model: exact instructions, saved characters and references, and edits that keep the rest of the image in place.

  • Guava 2 Pro

Photoreal portraits, fashion and product shots, for the editorial look many Soul users are after. Name the lens and the light.

  • Cherry 2 Pro

Final-quality video up to 30 seconds at 1080p with sound, several shots in one clip, and characters with their voices.

  • Lemon

A first and a last frame, reference images and videos, and audio, at a friendlier price than Cherry 2 Pro.

Try these prompts

Higgsfield-style jobs as Mage prompts

Each one swaps a menu choice for words. Replace @yourcharacter with the handle you saved.

  • An editorial portrait set

@yourcharacter in a charcoal overcoat on a rooftop at blue hour, 85mm portrait, shallow depth of field, soft city lights behind, editorial fashion photo

  • A camera move, written out

@yourcharacter walks toward the camera down a neon-lit alley in the rain. Shot 1, 0 to 3 s: wide, slow dolly back. Shot 2, 3 to 6 s: close-up, handheld, she glances over her shoulder. Anamorphic flares, wet reflections, distant thunder.

  • A first and last frame transition

From the first frame to the last: the camera pushes through the open window as day turns to night, curtains lifting in the wind, street lights flickering on.

  • A UGC ad from a chat

Use Mage to make a vertical UGC video for this serum: a creator holds it up to the camera and says the hook in one line, with sound. Photo: [direct link to the image file]

A little more clarity

Frequently asked questions

Can I import my Higgsfield Soul ID into Mage?
No, and you do not need to. A trained Soul ID stays on Higgsfield, but a Mage Character needs only one clear photo of the same person: save it and call it by @handle in any image or video prompt, with no training step.
What is the Mage alternative to Higgsfield Recast?
Video Character Swap. It replaces the whole person in a clip, face, hair, body and outfit, with a character from one image, and keeps the original motion, camera and background. Lemon, the default, takes clips of 1 to 15 seconds, and Cherry 2 Pro takes clips up to 30.
Does Mage have something like Cinema Studio?
Not as menus of camera bodies, lenses and presets. On Mage you direct the camera in the prompt, and you can list several shots with rough timings in one Cherry 2 Pro prompt.
Will I lose my Higgsfield generations if I cancel?
Not by cancelling: Higgsfield says cancelling does not delete your account or your generations, and that assets stay accessible while the subscription is active. Download what you need anyway, and spend Credit Pack credits, which expire 90 days after purchase.
Can I use Mage in Claude the way I used Higgsfield's MCP?
Yes. Add Mage's MCP server to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Grok or Claude Code, sign in, and your assistant can generate with your saved characters by @handle. Like Higgsfield's connector, it charges every generation, in Gems, and it quotes the price first.
Does Mage have unlimited video like Higgsfield?
Yes, and it works differently. Mage's unlimited video starts on Pro at $30 a month, with a published list of video models and settings and no per-model window. Higgsfield's pricing explainer lists image models in its 365-day Unlimited set, with video limited to short windows.
Can I keep using Higgsfield and Mage side by side?
Yes. Nothing on Mage depends on cancelling, and both MCP servers can be connected in Claude at once; turn on one per chat so Claude uses the one you mean.
Does Mage watermark free generations?
No. Nothing you make on Mage carries a watermark, on the Free plan or any paid plan. Higgsfield adds a visible watermark to free-account generations.
