The basics

What is an AI movie generator?

An AI movie generator goes beyond a single clip. It takes a story, breaks it into scenes, and films each one, so you get a sequence that reads as a short film rather than one impressive shot. The hard part of AI film is continuity: the same people, the same world, scene after scene.

On Mage that is Story Studio. You write a story prompt of up to 1,000 characters, pick one to three characters for the cast, add references for objects, locations, poses or outfits if you like, and choose 5, 10 or 20 scenes. Story Studio writes the scene-by-scene script, then films every scene as its own video, in order, until the story is told.

For a film you assemble by hand, write each shot yourself on Cherry 2 Pro, which renders clips of up to 30 seconds, and join the best of them in Storyboard, which combines up to six clips into one MP4. Both routes keep your work private by default.

A little more possibility

Why storytellers film on Mage

  • A whole story from one prompt

Story Studio writes the script and films 5 to 20 scenes in order, so you direct the story instead of every shot.

  • A consistent cast

Cast one to three saved characters, and the same faces appear in every scene of the story.

  • References for the world

Add saved objects, locations, poses and outfits so props and places stay the same across scenes.

  • Your choice of video model

Film the story on Cherry, Cherry 2 Pro, Raspberry, Grok Video, Berry, Lemon and more.

  • Cut it together

Storyboard joins up to six clips into one MP4, vertical or widescreen, ready to download or post.

  • Private by default

Stories and clips stay in your account until you decide to share them.

From idea to creation

How do you make a movie with AI?

It takes three steps, and it is free to start.

  1. Cast your characters

Save one to three characters from a single portrait each, or pick ones you already have.

  2. Write the story prompt

Open Story Studio and describe the story in up to 1,000 characters: who wants what, what goes wrong, how it ends.

  3. Choose scenes and model

Pick 5, 10 or 20 scenes and the video model to film them with, then start the story.

  4. Watch, then assemble

Play the scenes back to back in the preview, download them, and join your favorite clips in Storyboard.

Tips and techniques

How to write a story prompt that films well

A story prompt is not a synopsis of a feature film. Twenty scenes of a few seconds each is a short film, so pick a story that fits: one goal, one obstacle, one turn and an ending. A courier must deliver a cake across a flooded city before midnight is a better prompt than a three-act saga with ten characters.

Write in the order things happen and keep the cast small. Story Studio films the scenes in order, so a clear sequence gives it a clear script. Mention the tone and the look once, such as a warm 1970s film look or a cold neon thriller, and it carries through the scenes.

Use references for anything that must not change. If the cake, the courier’s bike or the apartment matter to the plot, save them as references and add them to the story, so they look the same in scene one and scene twenty.

  • Start with 5 scenes to test the story, then go to 10 or 20.
  • Give each character a clear role in the prompt.
  • State the visual tone once: era, palette, film stock.
  • Save key props and places as references.
  • End the prompt with how the story should end.

Tips and techniques

Directing shot by shot with Cherry 2 Pro and Storyboard

When you want control over every shot, write them yourself. Cherry 2 Pro renders clips of 4 to 30 seconds at up to 1080p with sound, and it takes saved characters with their voices, so a single clip can hold a whole exchange of dialogue. Write a multi-shot prompt with timings, such as a wide establishing shot, then a close-up, then a reveal, for a small sequence in one render.

Then cut. Storyboard arranges up to six of your clips, lets you reorder them, and exports one MP4 in 9:16 or 16:9. For movement copied from real footage, such as a fight or a dance, use Motion Control; for a character speaking a recorded line, use the AI lip sync tool.

Be clear about one thing: Story Studio delivers each scene as its own video, which you download separately, and its preview plays them back to back. Joining clips into a single file is what Storyboard is for.

The right model for the job

The best models for an AI film

Story Studio can film with any of these. For hand-made shots, pick by quality, price and character work.

  • Cherry 2 Pro

The flagship for final shots: cinematic motion and audio, up to 30 seconds and 1080p, characters with their voices, and up to 29 reference images. The most expensive video model.

  • Raspberry

A character video model working from a first frame and reference images, with voices and audio, at 720p or 1080p.

  • Lemon

Balanced quality and price with generated audio and clips from 2 to 30 seconds. A good choice for longer stories on a budget.

  • Berry 2

Faithful to the reference images you give it, from 3 to 15 seconds at up to 1080p.

Try these prompts

Story prompts to start from

Small casts, one clear goal, and an ending. Replace the names with your own @characters.

  • Comedy chase

A grandfather and his black cat steal the last mango from a market stall and are chased through the old town by the furious vendor, until they share it with her on a rooftop at sunset.

  • Quiet drama

A young violinist practices alone in an empty subway station every night. One night a stranger starts playing along on a cello, and by the last scene a small crowd has gathered.

  • Fantasy quest

A frost queen must carry a sleeping dragon egg across a frozen sea before it hatches. Warm 1970s fantasy film look. It hatches as she reaches the shore.

Room to experiment

Story Studio vs making single clips

Single-clip generators are great at moments. A film needs a sequence, and stitching one together by hand means keeping characters, props and places consistent yourself. Story Studio does the scripting and the filming in order.

Single-clip tools

  • One shot per prompt, no script
  • Characters drift between clips
  • You plan every scene by hand
  • Assembly happens in another app

Story Studio

  • One story prompt becomes 5 to 20 scenes
  • One to three cast characters in every scene
  • Object, location, pose and outfit references
  • Storyboard joins clips into one MP4

Follow your imagination

What people film with an AI movie generator

  • Short films and series

Episodes with a recurring cast, written as story prompts and filmed scene by scene.

  • Pitches and previsualization

Show a producer how a story plays before a single day of shooting.

  • Social storytelling

Vertical mini-dramas and character stories for Reels, Shorts and TikTok.

  • Bedtime stories and gifts

Start small. Dream big.

A little more clarity

Frequently asked questions

Can AI make a whole movie?
AI can make a short film. Story Studio turns one story prompt into 5 to 20 scene videos, filmed in order with your cast. That is a short piece, not a feature, and the best results come from small casts and simple stories.
How do I keep the same characters in every scene?
Save each character from one clear portrait and cast them in the story, up to three. Story Studio uses the same characters in every scene, and references keep props, places and outfits consistent too.
Do I get one video file at the end?
Story Studio gives you each scene as its own video, which you download separately, and its preview plays them back to back. To export one file, join up to six clips in Storyboard, which exports a single MP4.
Is Story Studio unlimited on my plan?
No. Story Studio is always paid in Gems, on every plan, at a Gem per scene for the script plus each scene’s video price. Your plan’s monthly Gems count toward it. Unlimited plans cover single clips you generate in the prompt bar.
Which video models can film a story?
Story Studio films with Cherry (the default), Cherry Mini, Cherry Pro, Cherry 2 Pro, Raspberry, Grok Video, Berry, Berry 2 and Lemon.
Can the characters talk?
Yes. Cherry, Raspberry, Plum, Lemon and MiniMax-H3 use a character’s saved voice, and Cherry 2 Pro can render dialogue in a clip. For a recorded line, the Lipsync app syncs a face to your audio.
Are my stories private?
Yes. Stories and clips are private by default, and a commercial license comes with every paid plan.
