AI Shopee Product Photos

Shopee grades every listing against a set of quality criteria, and five of them are about images. In its Singapore Seller Education Hub (updated July 2026), a listing needs a minimum number of distinct images for its category, in 1:1 or 4:3; fitted images that show the complete product without white borders; clear images that are not blurry or pixelated; a clean background; and no watermark covering the product. Each listing takes a cover photo and up to 8 more images, plus a product video.

A clean background comes with numbers. It can be pure white or a single color, or a natural, real background with no more than three dominant color tones. The background must cover at least 10% of the image, the product’s main body no more than 90%, and text, graphics, watermarks and props together no more than 25% of the background, with any props blurred. Shopee Mall covers are stricter: at least 500 x 500 pixels, a solid background with white preferred, the product filling at least 60%, no text, borders or montages, and a logo only in the top-left corner at no more than 10% of the image.

The details differ by country, so check your own Seller Education Hub: in Brazil, every listing must carry 1:1 images, and you can add a set of 3:4 images on top. Last checked October 2026. A minimum number of images. The minimum depends on the category, and every image must be distinct: Shopee counts identical images as one. Use the slots for different information, not the same photo with a new background.

Fitted images. An image fails when it does not fill the frame and leaves white space on the borders, when it is not square, when it is zoomed in so far that part of the product is cut off, or when less than 85% of the product shows. Generating at 1:1 from the start avoids the white bars you get from padding a tall photo into a square.

Clear images and a clean background. Blurry or pixelated images fail, except for a deliberate background blur that makes the product stand out. For the cover, pick one of the two clean options: pure white or a single color, or a natural scene with up to three dominant tones and any props blurred. Keep the product under 90% of the frame so the background covers the 10% Shopee asks for.

No watermark over the product. A shop watermark is accepted only where it does not overlap the product, at the side of the image. On Shopee Mall covers, use no watermark at all, and keep the logo in the top-left corner at no more than 10% of the image.

• Generate covers at 1:1 so there are no white bars to remove.
• Show the whole product: at least 85% of it must be visible.
• Keep the product under 90% of the frame.
• Text, graphics and props: no more than a quarter of the background.
• Never let a watermark cross the product.

Shopee accepts a natural background on the cover as long as the scene stays simple, which makes a quiet lifestyle cover possible: a tumbler on a pale wooden table against a cream wall, a sneaker on light concrete beside a white step. Count the tones before you prompt and write them into the prompt: "only three tones in the image: cream wall, pale oak table, the product."

Props can stay in the background up to a point. They must be blurred, and together with any text or graphics they may cover no more than a quarter of the background. Ask for "everything except the product softly out of focus" and keep the props few. Shopee Mall sellers should skip scenes on the cover and use a solid background there, with scenes in the other images.

If the scene leaves the product looking pasted in, the light is usually the problem. Run the result through Relight and set the light to come from the same side as the window in the scene. The AI background changer guide covers more ways to word a scene.

The eight images after the cover are where the market shows. A rice cooker in a Kuala Lumpur condo kitchen, a standing fan beside a window in a Ho Chi Minh City apartment, a skincare set on the shelf of a Bangkok shophouse bathroom, a raincoat on a hook by a Manila doorway in the rainy season. Match the light to the climate: strong tropical sun, a grey monsoon sky, the cool white of an air-conditioned room.

For Shopee Brazil, add the 3:4 set. Shopee says taller images give fashion items and standing models more room in places like Descobertas do Dia. Generate those shots in a portrait frame, such as 4:5 or 2:3, and adjust the crop in the listing editor, which trims images to 3:4 automatically. Upload the 1:1 set first, since Brazil requires it on every listing.

For clothing on a model, save one character and dress them with Outfit Swap. On Shopee Mall covers, a model is allowed only in fashion, health and beauty, and sports and outdoor categories, so check yours first; in the other images, a model is fine.

Shopee’s year runs on double-digit campaigns: 9.9, 10.10, 11.11 and 12.12. Each one is a reason to refresh the scenes in your extra images, never the cover: a gift-wrapped box for 12.12, a back-to-school desk, a Ramadan table for Malaysia and Indonesia, a summer beach for Brazil. Make three versions per campaign on Mango 3 Turbo and keep the one that fits.

Video helps on the listing and in Shopee Video. Since 1 August 2026, any video with AI-generated content posted to Shopee Video must have the "AI-generated Inform" toggle on, or it is removed with penalty points, and the AI content must show the real product truthfully.
